MODERN WOODMEN FUND-RAISER FOR CLARK MEMORIAL YMCA
Members of the Modern Woodmen of America camp 15534 (chapter) recently helped raise money for the Wendell P. Clark Memorial YMCA by participating in the Charles E. Grout Memorial Golf Tournament.
The event, held on 7/19/2008 raised $12,217.00. This includes $2,500 matched by Modern Woodmen's home office through the organization's Matching Fund program. The money will be used for children's summer programs.
The Matching Fund program offers Modern Woodmen camp members nationwide the chance to show their support of a community cause, organization or individual in need by partnering with community organizations and holding fund-raisers. Modern Woodmen matches money raised up to $2,500. These fundraising projects contribute more than $6 million to community needs nationwide each year.
Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, today Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States. The organization's camps provide a number of volunteer service and activities for local members.
Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial has established a new partnership locally with the Clifford P. Beauvais Insurance Agency, Inc. located on Summer Drive in Winchendon. People interested in learning more about the life insurance packages offered through Modern Woodmen can contact Chris Beauvais at CPB at 978-297-0472. Both organizations were major supporters of the Charles E. Grout Memorial Golf Tournament, which helped to subsidize the many programs and services offered at the Wendell P. Clark Memorial YMCA.

THE ROBINSON-BROADHURST FOUNDATION
Each year since 1984, the Wendell P. Clark Memorial
Community Center has been a fortunate recipient of
significant financial support from the Robinson-Broadhurst
Foundation. This year is no exception. The Foundation
supported the project to sand the gym floor to the wood,
then seal, re-stripe and finish a project that had not
been done in the 53-year history of the organization. The
Foundation also funded an outside professional to facilitate
a strategic planning process, the purchase of new fitness
equipment and other capital projects, such as grout work
and upkeep of the pool and a new sump pump system in the
pool pit.
This year, 648 campers will participate in the
Robinson-Broadhurst Foundation subsidized Day Camp
program here at the Clark Memorial YMCA,
where the weekly fee is only $50 and includes one field trip
per week, a Tee-shirt, weekly themes, and daily activities in
the pool, gym, field or courts.
Recently, at the Annual Spring Awards Banquet,
the Robinson-Broadhurst Foundation was elected into the
Wendell P. Clark Memorial Hall of Fame in recognition of
their years of continued and considerable support.
