FALL 2010 SCHEDULE
The Y teaches children to swim using the American Red Cross Learn to Swim
guidelines. Using both instruction and play, kids build their skills at their pace, ensuring that they succeed often, build confidence and have fun. The
classes help children develop strokes, water safety skills, life skills and provide a positive learning experience.
Attention New Swimmers: Swim Tests are required for proper placement prior to program registration.

WATER BABIES (WITH PARENT)
(1/2 hour) M: 10:15; W: 6:15
This structured parent/child class, emphasizes water adjustment and
exploration in a fun, interactive environment.
LEVEL I: INTRODUCTION TO WATER SKILLS
(1/2 hour) M: 9:45, 5:30 & 6:15; W: 5:30, 6:15; TH: 9:45;
F: 9:45; S: 8:30, 10
Children learn to enter and exit the water independently, feel
comfortable in the water and enjoy the water safely. Emphasis
on breath control and underwater swimming.
LEVEL II: FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS
(1/2 hour) M: 6:15; T: 9:45, 5:30; TH: 5:30, 6;
S: 8:30, 9, 9:30, 10
This class will expand on fundamental aquatic locomotion and
safety skills. Emphasis on buoyancy.
LEVEL III: STROKE DEVELOPMENT
(1/2 hour) M: 5:30; T: 5:30, 6: W: 5:30; TH: 5:30, 6;
S: 9, 9:30, 10
Swimmers continue to improve skill competency; practice
safety and non-swimming rescue skills. Emphasis on changing
direction and position. Rotary breathing will be introduced.
LEVEL IV: STROKE IMPROVEMENT
(45 min) M: 6:45; W: 6:45; F: 7
Swimmers continue to develop confidence in strokes and
safety skills. The breaststroke and sidestroke are introduced
along with rotary breathing, diving and scissor kick.
LEVEL V: STROKE REFINEMENT
(45 min) M: 6:45; W: 6:45; F: 7
Swimmers continue stroke refinement. New skills such as
butterfly, surface diving and competitive starts are introduced.

The Clark Sharks Swim Team is a competitive swim program that emphasizes learning and achievement through hard work and
goal setting. Participants learn various competitive techniques as they continually refine their strokes and gain in conditioning.
Swim team is open to children who can swim 25 yards (one length) non-stop! TRY A FREE WEEK WITH THE TEAM!

This class offers the ultimate in no impact cardiovascular work. By working against the resistance of the water, you can
achieve both strength conditioning as well as the benefits of a high impact workout. No swimming skills required!
