December 2011
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As the year draws to an end and we celebrate the festivities of the holiday season with our friends, families
and loved ones, the Clark Memorial YMCA wishes to express our sincere appreciation to you and the entire community
for your involvement and support during this past year. Thanks to you, and the support of others like you in the
community, the Clark Memorial YMCA was able to put our mission into practice and build a sense of community by
developing character and positive values through activities that promote social, physical and emotional well-being
for all.
The Clark Memorial YMCA is proud to be a community partner and leader in organizing and providing opportunities
for youth, adults, seniors and families to learn and grow together. With your support in 2011, the YMCA was able
to serve more than 1,200 youth participants in:
• 317 children participated in Youth Swim Lessons
• 85 children competed on the Swim Team
• 171 children played Youth Soccer
• 133 children played Youth Basketball
• 250 children participated in Youth Gymnastics Lessons
• 40 children competed on the Gymnastics Team
• 59 children enrolled in the Before & After-School Child Care
• 136 children attended Day Camp
• 74 children enrolled in our Youth Sports Camp
Together, we were also able to provide the community with many fun and exciting events such as the
Annual Wine Tasting & Auction, Summer Solstice, Halloween Party, Float n' Flick, Morin 5k Road Race, Kid's
Triathlon, Toy Town Duathlon, McDonald’s Mc’Fun Run for Kids, Silver Sneakers, the Charles E. Grout Golf
Tournament, and Pre-School Playground. The YMCA is also proud to have been able to provide youth and family
swim time for free swim as well as pool time to the Special Olympics.
In 2011, we also celebrated the one year anniversary of the newly renovated Robinson-Broadhurst
Field-House! Thanks to the Robinson-Broadhurst Foundation and the Winchendon School for the renovations of
the former ice-rink, we were able to offer the community, including The Winchendon School, Pop-Warner Football
& Cheering, Little-League, and Winchendon Public Schools, as well as others with the opportunity for year round
athletics on indoor field turf. Some of the popular athletic sports that took place in the field house this
past year include: Arena Softball, Little-League, Lacrosse, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Soccer (Youth, Adult
& Family), and Track n' Field just to name a few.
However, none of these activities could have taken place if it were not for the volunteers and donors
who contributed their time and financial support to enhancing the community in which we all love so much.
In 2011, more than 5,571 volunteer hours were contributed to the Clark Memorial YMCA. In a
time when local resources are stretched to the limit, and the need for community services is at an all time
high, the Clark Memorial YMCA and the volunteers and donors in our community worked together to provide
opportunities and services for so many children and families in our community. These programs and activities
made a real and direct impact on the physical and social well-being of local families and individuals by
helping them to become more physically active and socially engaged.
As we set our sights on 2012 and beyond, we hope that you will join us in serving our community.
As a 501 (C) (3), non-profit organization, we depend on the support of our community volunteers and donors
and encourage you to be a part of the magic. To learn more about how you can help volunteer at the Clark
