YOUTH BASKETBALL JUNIOR DIVISION

1. The Junior Division will be for boys and girls in grades 1 & 2.

2. The basket will be 8½ feet high from the floor.

3. A junior size ball will be used.

4. Games shall consist of four 6-minute quarters, stop time. The scoreboard will be reset after each quarter. There is one minute between quarters and a five-minute half time. Times subject to change in effort to keep to schedule.

5. The clock will stop at the closest whistle to the three-minute mark (between 3:15 and 2:45) to allow for player substitutions. Substitutions permitted at this time only, with exception to player injury, sickness and foul trouble. This limits the confusion regarding defensive match-ups and allows for accurate tracking of playing time requirements.

6. Games that are tied at the end of regulation will end in a tie.

7. There will be two times-out per game. Times-out will be 45 seconds in length.

8. Teams must play only man-to-man defense. Each player must be matched with another player from the opposing team with similar ability levels. No zone defenses or double-teaming. If an offensive player is driving to the basket, those defenders within six feet may temporarily help stop the ball from scoring, then recover to defend original offensive player assignment.

9. The red division line (half court) is the defensive pick-up line. No defensive player can cross that line while the ball is on the other side. Rule applies for sideline throw-ins.

10. The red lines are out of bounds on the side lines and end lines. Teams will provide spacing of three feet for defenders guarding the in-bound pass.

11. Players shall play equal time of each game. If player A gets more playing time in game 1, player B should see more time in game 2, player C more time in game 3, and so on.

12. No league standings will be posted.

13. Foul shots on shooting fouls only. Foul shots taken from the 12-foot line.

14. The Recreational Sports Coordinator and staff will handle any exceptions to these rules.

YOUTH BASKETBALL SENIOR DIVISION

1. The Senior Division will be for boys and girls in grades 3 & 4.

2. The basket will be 9 feet high from the floor.

3. A 28.5 (women's) size ball will be used.

4. Players shall play equal time of each game. If player A gets more playing time in game 1, player B should see more time in game 2, player C more time in game 3, and so on.

5. Games shall consist of four 7-minute quarters, stop time. There is one minute between quarters and a five-minute half time. Times subject to change in effort to keep to schedule.

6. The clock will stop at the closest whistle to the 3:30 mark (between 3:45 and 3:15) to allow for player substitutions. Substitutions are permitted at this time only, with exception to player injury, sickness or foul trouble. This limits the confusion regarding defensive match-ups and allows for accurate tracking of playing time requirements.

7. Games that are tied at the end of regulation will end in a tie.

8. Teams must play only man-to-man defense. Each player must be matched with another player from the opposing team with similar ability level. No zone defenses or double-teaming. If an offensive player is driving to the basket, those defenders within six feet may temporarily help stop the ball from scoring, then recover to defend original offensive player assignment. Each team will receive one warning per game, then a technical foul for each zone/double-teaming violation thereafter.

9. Teams may full-court press during the last two minutes of each half, only. If your team is leading by 10 points or more, your team cannot press at that time. Again, each player must guard the player s/he has been "matching-up" with that has similar abilities.

10. The three-point line is the defensive pick-up line. No defensive player can cross that line while the ball is on the other side, unless the game is in the last two minutes of either half, at which time the defensive team may elect to full-court press.

11. There will be two times-out per game. Times-out will be 45 seconds in length.

12. Foul shots on shooting fouls and bonus situations. Foul shots are taken from the 15-foot line.

13. On the fifth personal foul, the player will be disqualified for the remainder of the game.

14. All players must report to the scorer's table to go into the game and wait for an official to waive or beckon them in.

15. No league standings will be posted.

16. The Recreational Sports Coordinator and staff will handle any exceptions to these rules.

ADULT 3-0N-3 BASKETBALL

1. All adults over the age of 18 are welcome to participate.

2. 3-on-3 basketball games to be played "full court" on shorter side courts, using the red out of bound lines.

3. Games will be played to 50 points, scoring each basket as one point.

4. Half time occurs when either team first scores 25 points. This is a 2 minute break, as time permits.

5. Two time-outs per team per half. Unused 1st half time-outs may NOT be carried over to the 2nd half.

6. There are no officials and players are to practice proper court etiquette by calling fouls. These calls may not be disputed and either the offensive or defensive team players may call a foul.

7. The second foul within the same possession results in a free throw worth one point. If missed, the team who secures the rebound retains possession, as in regular play.

8. Although there are no officials, defensive players may count three seconds aloud as to indicate a possible violation in the lane to the offensive player. If ignored and abused, a change of possession may result.

9. Regular season games are scheduled for Monday & Thursday evenings at 6:30pm or 7:30pm, starting Tuesday, June 25 through to the Championship game during the week of August 13.

10. The post season consists of a double-elimination tournament with all 8 teams qualifying. Tournament seeding based on regular season results.

11. All other related rules & regulations based on IAABO rulebook.

12. Please remember that this is a recreational league and good sportsmanship is not only encouraged, but expected. We hope you enjoy the season. Good luck!
