Join us as we celebrate our community!
The 2009 Summer Solstice Hometown Heroes Parade has something for everyone. We guarantee you an exciting show & you could leave the parade with over 10 wonderful prizes – just for watching! Check out our parade details below but keep in mind that the parade keeps growing. You'll have to see it to believe it!
What will you see?
Envision bright lights & loud sirens as the parade opens. Then you'll see people marching in formation celebrating our town and our nation's heritage honored with riffle fire. Mix in tractors, a Hum-v, race cars, decorated convertibles, classic Model T's, decorated floats, golf carts, a horse drawn carriage, dirt bikes & go-carts, and large trucks… all cruising along the parade route. Intermingled we have music with participants walking and dancing throughout the route handing out free goodies to people in the crowd. You don't want to miss it!
Celebrating our daily heroes:
Police cruisers, Fire trucks, Ambulance, the American Legion & the National Guard
Our town business heroes that help to make Winchendon the vibrant community it is!
Floats from Colonial Cooperative Bank, Subway, Winchendon Golf Club, The Carriage House Restaurant, To Each His Own Design, GFA, Powell Stone & Gravel, Wachusett Valley Riders Club, Broadview Retirement Home, & Lang's Old Auto Parts - to name a few.
Community resource heroes including:
Murdock Middle-High School's Band; Athletics & Clubs, Murdock Sports Boosters, Clark Memorial YMCA's youth & adult teams, the Masons, Jo Ann East Dance Education, Winchendon Girl Scouts, Cub Scout Troop & Pack 35, Winchendon Community Action Committee, Ahimsah Haven, Winchendon Youth Hockey, Winchendon Martial Arts Center, Jr. Midget Cheerleaders & Pop Warner Football – the list keeps on growing!
